West Ham Closing In On West Brom Target

West Ham have signed forward Lucas Perez from Arsenal on a three-year contract.

"I'm very happy to be here at such an historic club", he told the club's official website.

The midfielder previously had a stint at Aston Villa and made 48 Premier League appearances for the club before they were relegated to the Championship in 2016.

Lucas Perez has thanked former club Arsenal for their "love and affection" following his move to West Ham United.

Sanchez, who has over 80 caps for his country, spent a year ago on loan at Espanyol.

Perez finally ends his nightmare spell at Arsenal after two hard years in which he managed only 21 appearances - scoring seven goals - before rejoining Deportivo La Coruna last season on loan.

"Carlos is a very experienced player whose career I have always followed closely and with admiration", West Ham director of football Mario Husillos said.

Having been included in Arsenal's pre-season tour of Singapore it appeared Perez was potentially going to be given a fresh start under new head coach Unai Emery.

"There are other clubs interested but joining West Ham would allow him to continue in London and in the Premier League and Lucas wants to continue in London".

"The 29-year-old joins Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Fabian Balbuena and Felipe Anderson in moving to London Stadium this summer". He scores goals, but can also create them and link well with the midfielders.
