Sony unveils translucent PS4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition to celebrate sales

The 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro will release on 24 August to celebrate the fact that more than 500 million PS4 consoles have been sold since the first version launched in 2013 - 525.3 million, to be exact. Sony's also selling a 500 Million Limited Edition Gold Wireless Headset (dark blue translucent design with copper detailing) for $100.

Inside is a 2TB hard drive and it will be made available for $499.99/$639.99 CAD/€499. Some lucky buyers will also get their consoles engraved with special serial numbers that commemorate important events of PlayStation, said Sony.

The 500 Million Limited Edition DualShock 4 will also be available as a standalone for $64.99/€64 or the regional equivalent, and a 500 Million Limited Edition Gold Wireless Headset will be available separately at $99.99/€89 or equivalent.

However, if you already own a PS4 Pro and you just want the controller, you're in luck.

The 500 Million Limited Edition DualShock 4 will also be available as a standalone purchase for $64.99 United States dollars / $74.99 CAD / €64.99 / 6,480 yen. As a "thank you" to the fans, Sony will be producing 50,000 units of this PS4 Pro. We'll see the console launch at retailers around the United States on August 24, while the controller and headset will follow in early September. Check with your local retailers to see if they will carry the system. Head to the PlayStation European Blog to find out more. The company announced it to celebrate 500 million sales of PlayStation consoles since the brand's inception in 1994.
