Arsenal chief Burgess: No pushback from players over Emery's new training methods

Arsenal fans will be hoping he can get off to a good start when his side host Manchester City on Sunday.

It has been a summer of tremendous change and hard work at Arsenal as head coach Unai Emery prepares for his first season at the club. The team won its third Premier League title (and fifth English top-flight trophy overall), while setting more than 10 new Premier League records along the way, including for most points (100), most goals (106), most wins (32) and the biggest winning points margin (19).

"A little bit more smiles and happiness, but a little bit less committed".

With a long list of alternative attacking options, it's unlikely that Welbeck will see too much action as a starter this season, but he poses to continue his valuable role from the bench.

And yet very familiar surroundings, with minor tweaks to the squad.

However, the forward is said to be aware that is not going to be a regular starter for the Gunners once again this season.

Emery's priority - like Sarri at Chelsea - is ensuring there isn't another season out of the Champions League.

Arsenal's Emery will need to reverse a awful recent record for the club against City, however, if the new era in north London is not to start in disappointing fashion.

It's expected he'll have no shortage of suitors, with reports suggesting a clutch of Premier League clubs are after the scrawl of the vastly-experienced former Manchester United forward.

In recent seasons, Arsenal have not won the opening game of the season, with the exception of last season where they had to come from behind twice to defeat Leicester City 4-3 at the Emirates.

Referring to his summer signings - goalkeeper Bernd Leno, defenders Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos and midfielders Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi - Emery insists balance is the aim.

Elsewhere, fresh from their Championship exploits, promoted teams Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cardiff City and Fulham take on Everton, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace respectively.
