Elderly men escape from nursing home for German heavy metal festival

Two nursing home patients "escaped" on Friday and were found at a heavy metal festival, according to German media outlets.

Two Germans who ran away from their retirement home to attend a heavy metal music festival had their plot foiled by police.

Unfortunately, the home soon realised they were missing and alerted the police. That sparked an all-out search, which concluded after authorities found the men around 3 a.m.at Wacken Open Air, the world's biggest heavy metal festival.

"The care home quickly organised return transport after police picked them up", police spokeswoman Merle Neufeld said. They were "disoriented and dazed", but otherwise fine.

But the authorities added that the men "were reluctant to go home, so a patrol auto accompanied the contracted taxi as a precaution".

Police praised all the people attending the worlds largest metal festival and said that apart from some drug seizures, the crowd was incredibly well behaved.

With artists like Judas Priest, Ghost, Danzig, Behemoth, and so much more, it's really hard to imagine anyone that WOULDN'T break out of their nursing home to be there! "How cool is that, please?"

The festival took part from 1 to 4 August.

You're never too old to rock on.
