Facebook Dating feature to be added soon

"I can't go past the signup screen because they are not activating all non-employee Dating profiles because, well, it's 'pre-launch'".

Facebook teased the addition of a dating feature back in May, but we thought it will be launched as a separate, standalone app.

The company is now testing its "Facebook Dating" feature internally.

"Dogfooding this product is completely voluntary and has no impact on your employment", the screenshot further read, adding that the product is confidential. Now, the social media giant is testing the feature internally with employees. Facebook has also confirmed that the feature is being tested within the main Facebook app.

Dating is a good opportunity for Facebook, given that around 200 million users on the social network list themselves as single.

Dating apps like Bumble already ask users to sign in using their Facebook accounts in a bid to spot mutual friends - and avoid making embarrassing connections with family members or close friends.

"This is going to be for building real, long-term relationships - not just for hookups", CEO Mark Zuckerberg said when it was announced.

The development was spotted by Jane Manchun Wong, a computer scientist who last week identified that the company was developing a talent show feature for its app.

Facebook is all set to take on mobile dating apps like Tinder and TrulyMadly.

"We have designed this with privacy and safety in mind from the beginning".

Facebook officially announced that it's testing a new dating feature for its users. "Your friends aren't going to see your profile, and you're only going to be suggested to people who are not your friends".
