Urban Meyer knew of Smith’s DV allegations (The Sports Post)

As most of Wednesday has been spent speculating on what Urban Meyer did or did not know about his former wide receivers coach Zach Smith, separate reports have further illustrated the abuse Smith's ex-wife, Courtney Smith, says she endured over the course of their marriage.

Several of her anecdotes allege that a few of Meyer's assistant coaches, as well as his wife, Shelley, knew about Zach Smith's history of domestic abuse.

Zach Smith, who has never been convicted of any crimes, was sacked last week after an OH court granted a domestic violence protective order to Courtney Smith.

Buckeyes offensive coordinator Ryan Day will serve as acting head coach in Meyer's absence.

Courtney was 3 months pregnant at the time and Smith was charged aggravated battery on a pregnant victim.

McMurphy stated that Ohio State might be in violation of Title IV, which states, "discrimination on the basis of sex, can include sexual harassment, rape or sexual assault".

Smith was sacked before the Big Ten media days last week. It wasn't until July 23, 2018 that Zach was sacked from his coaching position after being charged with criminal trespassing when he dropped his children off at Courtney's home back on May 12.

Messages left with Ohio State on Wednesday were not returned.

In whole, there are a slew of police reports, text messages and legitimate media reports that point to Smith's alleged abuse and Meyer's alleged knowledge of the abuse as it was ongoing. It came back to me that what was reported wasn't what actually happened.

A change in the police report for the domestic violence incident on October 26, 2015.

"[DeFries] said, 'If you don't drop the charges, Zach will never coach again, '" Smith told McMurphy. Courtney Smith filed an order of protection against her ex-husband in Delaware, Ohio on July 20. Do you have a restraining order?

A Brett McMurphy report came out earlier on Wednesday bringing serious questions to light if Meyer knew more than he let on about the situation between Smith and his then-wife and later ex-wife Courtney in regard to suspected domestic violence. "I said 'that's fine, you know, you should tell Urban. The decision was made, it's time to move forward".

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, talks with a player in April in Columbus, Ohio.

Meyer was out of coaching for a season, but was hired by Ohio State in November 2011 to replace Jim Tressel, who was sacked before that season for lying to the NCAA and university of about rules violation committed by some of his players. OSU head coach failed to live up to "honesty" while dealing with an assistant coach who didn't "treat women with respect".
