Real Madrid president Florentino warns Inter Milan off Modric

Luka Modric is being lined up for a shock move to Inter Milan.

They have completed a loan deal for Modric's worldwide teammate Sime Vrsaljko from Atletico Madrid.

Gazzetta says Modric's wife, Vanja Bosnic, has made contact with Inter to offer the midfielder to the Italians.

But doing that at a stage like the World Cup has its problems and with Cristiano Ronaldo making the move to the Serie A, it looks like Luka Modric is about to do the same.

Luka Modric will return to Madrid on Sunday and will begin training with Real Madrid on Monday and until he has held talks with Real Madrid over his future, all Inter can do is sit and wait.

Modric is unlikely to be leaving Real Madrid after his price was set.

But Modric seems determined to test Real's resolve.

"The only way Modric can leave is if someone pays 750m", he told Spanish publication Marca. The 32-year-old has been the stalwart in Real Madrid's line-up amid the revolving door of players and managers coming in and going out and has won the hearts of the world with his performance for Croatia in the 2018 World Cup.

How could Real Madrid line up next season after the transfer window?

Bayern Munich ace Vidal was expected to arrive, however, the opportunity to sign Modric has thrown that deal into doubt.

The club have hit financial hard in recent times and are desperate to return to the top of Italian football. Manchester United's Matteo Darmian is the player that Inter now have in mind but they may have to act fast to secure him with Napoli also lurking.
