Demi Lovato's assistant thought she was dead after overdose

"Demi was very sick and her family did not want to upset her with something that might trigger conflict".

Her family chose to wait until she was feeling better to bring up rehab.

The 25-year-old "Tell Me You Love Me" pop superstar reportedly made an agreement for treatment at a rehab center following her hospitalization after a reported overdose, according to People on Friday (August 3).

The bodyguard had walked into a tumultuous scene in Lovato's home, the website's sources said, with blood on the singer's pillow, vomit present and Lovato's assistant screaming, "She's dead!" The bodyguard who gave her first aid reportedly propped her up and tried to help clear her airway before paramedics arrived.

Lovato has talked openly before about her struggle with substance abuse.

Lovato has been in hospital for about a week.

Demi Lovato's staff were convinced she was dead after they found her unconscious last week.

She's taken the rehab route before.

"Right now everyone is focused on getting Demi physically healthy", a source close to Lovato told People a few days ago. She continued with outpatient treatment when she returned to Los Angeles in 2011.

After her alleged incident, the musician "understands the severity of her overdose", and is willing to do whatever it takes to get "sober". The bodyguard, assistant and other members of her team were aware she was no longer sober. "She could die if she doesn't, and that's not going to be on my watch that we did nothing", the source said.
