Let's chat! WhatsApp rolls out voice and video group calling feature

Facebook originally announced group audio and video calls for WhatsApp back at the F8 conference, before opening it to a subset of users. Also, the calling has been created to work reliably around the world in different network conditions, according to the company. For now, WhatsApp will allow users to make a group call with up to four people.

The feature is now being rolled out to both Android and iOS users, so make sure to update to the latest version once availble in your Store.

Along with group video calls, WhatsApp also recently announced it is working on a feature to help people recognise when a message has been forwarded. With the latest change, the app is upping its support to four total participants. As mentioned, the new feature is still being rolled out.

In an official blog post the company said, "Over the last couple years, people have enjoyed making voice and video calls on WhatsApp".

With the release of Oculus Go, Facebook sent a loud and clear message that it wants to make virtual reality the way of the future.Mark Zuckerberg is counting on the $199 device to widen the audience for VR.The VR headset, which went on sale on Tuesday, will support new social experiences like multiplayer games, Watch Party, and live concerts/shows.

On the top right corner, you will see an icon to add more participants to the call.

"We are deeply committed to your safety and privacy which is why WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted, and we'll continue to improve our app with features like this one".

WhatsApp group call will compete against apps like Duo, Skype and its own sister apps-Messenger and Instagram. What are your thoughts on WhatsApp's new update for group voice and video calling? This means a user can add up to three contacts on a group audio and video call. In fact, you can't remove a contact during a group voice or video call.
