Atop the building animal control officers put pungent cat food in traps, the St. Paul Pioneer-Press reported.

Amid hundreds of photos and retweets from fascinated and frightened pedestrians, the raccoon finally came to a stop on the ledge of a swanky 22nd floor office - just one floor below the top.

But then all he did was set his sights on another building, climbing 23 storeys to more than 200 feet above street level, and taking a rest.

The furry hero began it's journey on Monday, when it became stuck on the 2nd floor ledge of another building. According to MPR, the little daredevil was able to reach the roof of the building by 2:45 a.m.

"I am so proud of this little rascal - such a fricking champ!", said Dana Frazer as she watched a live feed of the raccoon's climb on Periscope, a live streaming site.

Minnesota Public Radio, from a building less than a block away, branded the raccoon #mprraccoon.

By midafternoon, the raccoon had ventured an additional 10 stories up, its claws somehow digging in enough to continue.

"We've been told that the building has live traps on the roof and are trying to get him to go up there", the law firm wrote.

Even Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn got around the cause, offering $1000 to charity in the name of the person who could save the raccoon.

"Raccoons don't think ahead very much, so raccoons don't have very good impulse control", she said, admitting she could barely sleep she was so anxious about the animal.
