The Holy Month of Ramadan is drawing to a close and Eid Al-Fitr holidays have just been announced for the private sector.

The ministry's circular means private sector workers with a Friday/Saturday weekend could potentially receive no extra days off.

The committee will review reports of sighting of the moon for the month of Shawwal on Islamic calendar at the Islamic Foundation in the evening.

The Interior Ministry has declared Friday, June 15, 2018, as a public holiday.

Earlier today, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority that all schools will also be closed from this Thursday, until Sunday, with the possibility of the holiday extending to Monday also.

Banks, insurance companies and financial institutions governed by Qatar Central Bank will have their Eid al-Fitr holidays on June 17, 18 and 19.

A formal announcement regarding Eid-ul-Fitr will be made after evidence of moon sighting is collected from different parts of the country.
