Insider explains what Nabil Fekir would bring to Liverpool FC

Lyon say negotiations with Liverpool for the transfer of midfielder Nabil Fekir have ended and he will be staying at the club.

France Football Association president Noel Le Graet had suggested the move was nearly completed - according to reports in France - before Lyon's announcement.

There were doubts as to whether the playmaker would pass a medical with the Premier League side due to a knee injury.

Known for his outstanding technical abilities, the 24-year-old will prove to be a fantastic addition to this Liverpool team, who have shown tremendous potential over the past few months.

That came just a day after Lyon branded reports of the pending deal as "fake news".

"He passed his medical in Clairefontaine".

"It's always like that when you talk about a transfer: each tries to raise his price, to lower his price, when there's a hiccup someone wants it reduced".

Now we must wait and see if Liverpool and Klopp go back in for a player they have coveted so much. "It's part of the game", he said.

The Merseyside outfit have funds to spend after the Reds sold Philippe Coutinho in a £142m deal from FC Barcelona in the January transfer window.

"It would be better for him, but he's not perturbed", he said of the No.10.

He has won a place in the France World Cup squad for his performances, though Antoine Griezmann is set to be preferred to him in the starting XI for Saturday's final warm-up friendly against the USA.

The French worldwide scored 18 goals whilst chipping in with seven assists, ultimately helping Lyon to secure Champions League qualification as well as giving last season's defending champions AS Monaco a run for their money.
