Truex pulls away at Pocono

Well Sunday's Pocono 400 victor might not exactly change your view of the domination that has permeated the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. Busch scaled back his schedule in the second-tier series and won for the first time in four races this season.

Truex showed why he's still a threat to win his second straight title. "I think that three of those guys are definitely head over heels better than the rest of us, but I think from fourth to sixth or seventh best vehicle, it's pretty close".

Larson wasn't so bad, himself. Justin correctly picked Busch in third and received three bonus points while Randy picked Busch to finish second.

Johnson, though, needed only 13 starts before he won his first Cup race, Harvick won in just his third start and Busch won two races his rookie year.

NASCAR is at Pocono Raceway for a 400-mile race at the Tricky Triangle.

"It's my life, so we'll just keep going, keep trying to win in it, and the Roval is next", Busch said, "and then after that it's about the Daytona 500 and trying to get that one".

Since the start of 2016, there hasn't been a more familiar face than Truex in Victory Lane.

When he said the Fords were gonna get a drubbing previous year, did he mean the entire Blue Oval group or just Team Penske? "It's always fun to win, especially when you beat the best guys out there".

Kevin Harvick, who leads the series with five wins, joins Blaney on the front row.

Martin Truex Jr. has won the first stage of the NASCAR race at Pocono.

Busch had led 24 of the first 26 laps before his penalty. Last season, Truex Jr. had also won two races at this point last season. Johnson is starting to build up momentum, and I wouldn't put it past him snapping the longest drought of his career very soon.

Larson isn't just the defending race victor, he has actually won three straight at MI, including this week's race from the pole position last June.

"I made a mistake on pit road speeding again here at Pocono", Wallace said ruefully after steering his auto to the garage. He appeared to blow the engine when he missed a shift and his Chevrolet rolled to the garage for his first DNF of the season. That could make things interesting even if the race itself gets strung out and uneventful, which sometimes is the case in the Pennsylvania mountains. Five of his eight starts at the track are top-10 finishes, four of the eight are top-three results.

A promising Friday didn't produce a satisfying Sunday for defending Pocono 400 victor Ryan Blaney. Larson is winless this season. "So, it's been a little tougher to come by this year, but I feel like as far as where the team is, the speed of our cars, the job everybody's doing, we're right there and we showed it today".

Average Speed of Race Winner: 139.533 miles per hour.

Caution Flags: 6 for 23 laps.

Challenger Randy Adams defeated The News Herald sports writer Justin Epley by a slim 11-point margin, 177-166, following Sunday's race at Pocono Raceway.

Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch have combined to win nine of 13 races this season.

Harvick and Truex pitted from the lead on Lap 24, almost halfway through the stage. Logano had to suffer a penalty and lost lap time.
