Cristiano Ronaldo likely to leave Real Madrid over unfulfilled promises

"He must obviously have his reasons, they are personal decisions on which I can not give my opinion not knowing what is happening in his head".

Here we go again, it looks like the annual Cristiano Ronaldo saga is up and running as the Portuguese reportedly feels "betrayed" by Real Madrid.

"Cristiano has been, is and will be very important for us and Madrid and he must always go hand in hand".

"Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't own Real Madrid, if the president chooses - anyone can be there", said Marcelo.

The Portuguese legend has become synonymous with the club since moving there in 2009 and is firmly in the argument for their greatest ever player.

He has won two league titles, two Copas del Rey and four Champions Leagues, as well as a host of individual awards like the Ballon d'Or. Madrid are not open to the possibility of extending Ronaldo's current contract given that he turns 34 next February and is on a steady decline. Are Real just calling a bluff?

Ordinarily, £131m for a player aged 33 would seem insane, but given Ronaldo's huge marketing value and the fact he's still one of the best players on the planet, it would still be an excellent deal for United if these reports were accurate.

Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has said Real may be willing to offload Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in order to buy former Barcelona forward Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.

Ronaldo has a place in the list's top three for a sixth successive year, while Neymar has moved 13 places to fifth after his €222 million move with PSG in 2017.

Now the question is whether anyone can give him anything close to what he needs.
