Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trailer reveals star-studded voice cast

Not only do we have a new Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trailer, showcasing Sony's upcoming animated Marvel movie, we also have confirmation of the voice cast.

Sony may have loaned its live-action Spider-Man (Tom Holland) to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - including for Avengers: Infinity War, which wound up spawning one of the summer's big viral memes - but the studio isn't done with the wall-crawler just yet.

Six months before its release, the first full trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been released online, and it certainly shows a lot of promise.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse also stars Pitch Perfect's Hailee Steinfeld as an alternate version of Gwen Stacy.

Joining The Get Down's Shameik Moore, who's voicing fan-favorite web-slinger Miles Morales, is Moonlight Oscar victor Mahershala Ali as Miles' uncle Aaron. Jake Johnson will voice Miles' reluctant mentor, Peter Parker, and Liev Schreiber will voice Kingpin. Seriously, think about it: Lily Tomlin voicing Aunt May ... in a movie centered on Miles Morales... where Peter tells Miles, "Don't do it like me, do it like you"?

Lord and Miller, the comedic duo behind 22 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie, produced Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with a screenplay by Lord.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse opens in theaters on December 14th.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller's Spider-Verse is much bigger than we thought. However, in the comics he does regularly face off against Spider-Man as well, so his brief inclusion silhouetted by an explosion in this trailer is certainly appreciated.

While Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now dead, that doesn't mean we won't be getting some Spider-Man related movies from Sony. The animation style, the variation of characters, and the intriguing narrative are enough to get us excited to see how this movie will turn out.
