"The Second Part" reunites the team for the film's first poster

They're joined by Tiffany Haddish Queen Watevra Wa-Nab, Stephanie Beatriz as Sweet Mayhem and Arturo Castro as Ice Cream Cone.

The first official trailer for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, the sequel to 2014's The Lego Movie, has just landed and quite frankly, I feel disassembled.

We've still got nine months until the movie's release, so we may need to slow our roll when it comes to getting so worked up over new additions to the cast, as there are bound to be many more.

Set five years after the events of Warner's sleeper hit, The Second Part largely revolves around the kidnapping of Elizabeth Banks' Wildstyle, leaving Emmet (Infinity War star Chris Pratt) with little choice but to journey into space with Will Arnet's Batman by his side. The film looks to be set in a post-apocalyptic future after something bad happened during Taco Tuesday. Movie fans will find Emmet pretending that everything is awesome but, in reality, it is far from it. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the Lego universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored and musical worlds.

The Lego Movie 2 is out on 8 February next year.

Studios like Warner Bros. and Disney are falling over each other to convince audiences that they understand the female perspective, but it'd be a lot easier to convince audiences of their intentions if they didn't only hire the people who created the problem in the first place. It is produced by Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Roy Lee, the team behind the whole LEGO film franchise.
