Trump provides updates on first lady Melania Trump after medical procedure

Washington, D.C (USA), May 15 (ANI): United States of America (U.S.A) President Donald Trump on Tuesday said his wife Melania.

Mrs. Trump's expected multi-day hospitalization will be the longest for a first lady since Nancy Reagan spent roughly a week in the hospital in 1987 following a mastectomy.

First lady Melania Trump attends an event to celebrate military mothers and spouses, in The East Room at the White House on May 9, 2018 in Washington, DC. Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week. "The procedure was successful and there were no complications".

"Typically that's a laparoscopic-type procedure and not something that would keep her in the hospital for several days", he continued.

She is the first USA first lady to undergo such a serious medical procedure while in the White House since Nancy Reagan had a mastectomy in October 1987.

Two urologists who have no personal knowledge of Mrs. Trump's condition said the most likely explanation for the procedure is a kind of noncancerous kidney tumor called an angiomyolipoma.

They're not common but tend to occur in middle-aged women and can cause problematic bleeding if they become large enough, said Dr. Keith Kowalczyk of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

During the procedure, "an interventional radiologist uses imaging guidance to insert a catheter into a primary artery and advance it to blood vessel leading to a tumor or other area where the bloody supply needs to be blocked", Cancer Treatment Centers of America explains on its website. She later accompanied Trump to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to welcome home three Americans who had been released from detention in North Korea.

She largely stayed away from the campaign trail during her husband's 2016 historic run for the White House and has only of late taken on a more public role. The president looked on from the Rose Garden as she announced the initiative.

Pence said he spoke for "people everywhere when I say that Mrs. Trump is in our hearts".

"She's doing great. She's in good spirits", Stephanie Grisham told the Post.
