Minecraft Cross-Platform Play Between Nintendo Switch and Xbox Begins in June

Minecraft Bedrock Edition will contain all of the released DLC to date and will get a retail release in stores next month.

It looks like the Nintendo Switch kickstand problems will soon be solved though a new accessory that will come with a price tag of $19.99. Minecraft is one of the best selling games of all time sitting at more than 144 million units sold worldwide across all platforms, including the Switch. Players will be able to purchase maps, skins, and texture packs from creators within the Minecraft community using virtual, in-game currency called Minecoins. In addition, Minecraft will support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership when it launches in September. The owners of the game on the hybrid console will receive the update completely free.

It's up to players to take control of the suit and drag his lifeless body towards help through the game's brooding, atmospheric environments.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime issued the following statement about Minecraft's Bedrock upgrade.

The launch of Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition past year was a big moment, and now it's time to take the next step in the evolution of this beloved franchise. Bedrock is the cross platform standard version of Minecraft, allowing all modern versions of the game (other than PS4) to connect and play together. The kickstand, which pops up from the back of the Nintendo Switch, allows players to access Tabletop mode, where the console's screen displays the game and the user detaches the Joy-Cons.

The downside to the new service is that some games that can now be played online for free, such as Splatoon 2, will require a Switch Online membership for such play once the service launches.
