Bioscopewala movie trailer, a modern adaptation of Ranbindranath Tagore's Kabuliwala

A modern day reading of Tagore's heart wrenching classic, Kabuliwala, Bioscopewala extrapolates the characters and their conflicts, exploring alternative endings and experiences. I am sure that you have read the story, back in school in your literature curriculum.

Bioscopewala is an extension of the original Tagore story and every bit teased in the trailer looks intriguing.

Actor Danny Denzongpa, on the other hand, is a treat to watch on screen in the 2-minute trailer.

Danny is seen in a never-seen-before avatar in the trailer.

Bioscopewala is the story of Minnie Basu (Geetanjali Thapa) who comes to Afghanistan in search of Rehmat Khan (Danny Denzongpa), the man who "taught her to tell stories", and lovingly called "Bioscopewala". The bioscopewala spends his days longing to meet his daughter who lives in the war-torn Kabul, Afghanistan. There are a few action sequences as well, making us believe that something sinister is up. He befriends a small girl from a rich aristocratic family as she reminded him of his daughter in Kabul.

The trailer does a good job of setting up the theme for the story without giving away too much.

Rabindranath Tagore's short story Kabuliwala was released in 1892. It also stars Tisca Chopra and Adil Hussain and will hit the theatres on 25th May 2018.

Presented by Fox Star Studios in association with Star India and a Handmade Films production, Bioscopewala is directed by Deb Medhekar, produced by Sunil Doshi.
