PUBG Savage Map Returns, With A New Name

The new map will be available from 3am United Kingdom on Friday, and should pop up in your Steam library as "Experimental Server" if you own PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on PC.

Sanhok is a far smaller map than previous PUBG maps, at around 25% of the size, which should force players into more early game firefights. The teaser is up for grabs to anyone who has a copy of the game on PC, and kicks off on Thursday, May 10 at 7.00pm PDT.

That's not all, though, as they have finally chosen a name for their new project. It's called "Sanhok" now, and if you're wondering why, I'll explain in a moment.

"This new map is inspired by a wide variety of islands across southeast Asia, including those found in Thailand and the Philippines. From that inspiration, and by combining the Thai word for "fun", สนุก (pronounced sah-nook) and the Tagalog word for "chicken", manok (pronounced mah-nok), the official name of the map, Sanhok, was born". Until now, the map has been saddled with the somewhat clunky title Codename: Savage, but now it has a more succinct name - Sanhok. Sanhok is planned for full release in a couple of months, according to the blog post penned by the team. Sanhok is a compact, densely-jungled map created to compete with Fortnite Battle Royale's smaller map.
