´No chance´ of De Gea leaving United, insists Mourinho

De Gea has attracted interest from Real Madrid in the past, but Mourinho doesn't believe there is any chance the 27-year-old will leave Old Trafford this summer.

"Last year we won the Europa League, if we played Europa League this year we'd win it too but we played in the Champions League", he told reporters.

However, asked on Friday afternoon if the Spanish 'keeper could head for the Spanish capital, Mourinho said: 'No chance'.

Jose is determined to strengthen his back line in June, and understands that letting go of his greatest defensive asset would make no sense whatsoever if he wants to fight for the league title next season. However, at the end of the day, it's down to ourselves - the players on the field.

The Manchester United goalkeeper has been in stunning form again this season and was last week named in the PFA Team of the Year.

The Galacticos are planning to spend big this summer and De Gea is part of their plan next season, however, the Red Devils are planning to keep their best player beyond this season.

He has kept 21 clean sheets in all competitions this season, 17 coming in the league, and is now two ahead of Manchester City's Ederson with four games left to play.

But he has steadily improved and produced a particularly effective display against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final, scoring the victor as United triumphed 2-1.
