NFL Draft: RB Derrius Guice picked by Washington Redskins

Running back Derrius Guice was selected by the Redskins late in the second round of the National Football League draft Friday. Projected as a potential first rounder, Guice has slid, but should hear his name called in the second round.

One NFL legend for each team - 32 total - will be featured in the second round, and past recipients and team winners of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award will announce picks in the third round.

Guice, who measured in at 5 feet 10, 224 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine, was seen by some as the No. 2 running back in the draft behind Penn State's Saquon Barkley, who was picked second overall by the New York Giants.

Like Leonard Fournette, Jeremy Hill, Stevan Ridley, Joseph Addai and countless other great LSU running backs before him, Derrius Guice has found a home in the NFL. The rookie joins a Washington backfield that needed a jolt as Samaje Perine underwhelmed while Rob Kelly and Chris Thompson got hurt in 2017.

Guice fought through a knee injury last season to earn 1,251 yards and 11 touchdowns for LSU. He does have durability concerns, which could have contributed to him not being drafted higher.

The Colts could use a power back like Guice in former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich's offense.
