Your Gaffe Like Faeces, Apologise To Nigerian Youths - Shehu Sani Tells Buhari

Adesina attributed the outrage that trailed the President's comment to those he described as "manipulators and twisters" of Buhari's statements.

Comrade Timi Frank, has begged President Muhammadu Buhari to apologise to the nation's youth for saying that the country's "young population are lazy, but want free things".

In the video from The Cable, President Buhari said numerous youths below the age of 30 are uneducated, but they are waiting for everything to be done for them, just because Nigeria is an oil-rich country.

"This is a president who daily watches Nigerian youths sweat on menial jobs under very strenuous conditions on the streets of Abuja, Jos, Lagos, Ibadan, Kano, Kaduna, Maiduguri, Bauchi, Calabar, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Onitsha and other major cities, yet he unsympathetically described them as lazy".

Reacting, the former minister wondered what kind of leader takes pleasure in "slandering and humiliating his people before the world", stressing that Buhari has shamed Nigerians before the world. He said that what Nigerian youths deserve is respect and recognition for their efforts in making sure Nigeria gains global recognition through sports, music, movies, technology and innovations. Numerous youths are calling on the president to tender apology or forget about re-election in 2019. I imagine the youths of today having half of the opportunities available in the 50s and 60s... "But he had opportunity of joining the army at 19 & becoming a 2nd Lieutenant at 21 without O'Level certificate". Our greatest asset is our youth who created Nollywood out of nothing and an entertainment industry that is second to none in Africa. "They are hardworking. I should know, I have thousands of youths working for me all over the country who have been the backbone to our success", he said.

"I am indeed surprised at the unguided utterances of Mr President, I never expected him to make such careless utterances against the Nigerian youths".

More Nigerians have flooded the social media space over the comment by Buhari.
