Cardi B Smashes Taylor Swift's Apple Streaming Record

The album had over 100 million streams on the service, setting a new record for first-week streams by a female artist.

To understand the magnitude of those figures, by mid-week, the streams of Cardi's LP had already more than doubled those of Taylor Swift's Reputation, which previously held the record. In the week since it's release, it has managed to go gold and has now broken Taylor Swift's Apple Music streaming record, according to The Verge.

Cardi B is also the first black female rapper to appear on a no. 1 hit since Lil' Kim collaborated with Pink, Mya, and Christina Aguilera on the 2001 track, "Lady Marmalade".

"Look What You Made Me Do" was sitting pretty on top for three weeks until Cardi's song crept up and booted it out. He basically had one line from "Bodak Yellow" in his head, namely: "I let him get what he want/he buy me Yves Saint Laurent/and a new whip".

There were no hard feelings between the two artists. Additionally, the LP is the fifth-most streamed album in the history of Apple Music, whizzing past albums like The Weeknd's Starboy and Ed Sheehan's Divide. "It's gonna be insane because it's what I like", she told Apple Music Beats 1 during a recent interview.
