Ant McPartlin arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after three-vehicle collision

TV STAR Ant McPartlin was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving yesterday afternoon following a three-car crash in South West London.

Another fan said: 'Since Ant McPartlin has been arrested we should expect Stephen Mulhern and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend'.

Witnesses claimed the presenter became "agitated and argumentative" with a policewoman as she arrested him on suspicion of drink driving when he allegedly failed a breath test.

Rushing to Twitter fans began to speculate whether the show will be cancelled, as Ant, 42, was reportedly arrested by police after losing control of his auto and crashing into two other vehicles.

A number of people were treated for minor injuries after the incident on Lower Richmond Road in Mortlake, south-west London.

"He has spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future".

It's Saturday night, you are gathered around the television with your family and friends enjoying a Saturday Night Takeaway, when all of a sudden you see you on the TV.

McPartlin's mother was reportedly in the auto with the TV presenter at the time.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said that he was "taken to a south London police station for questioning and has since been released under investigation". 'She was trying to get him to calm down.

"We very much hope that he gets the help that he needs".

It's not known how long Ant will be in treatment, or when Saturday Night Takeaway will return to screens.

This latest update comes after a hard year for Ant, who spent two months in a rehabilitation facility last summer, where he was treated for an addiction to prescription painkillers.

Witness Jake Spencer said the star, who is going through a divorce with his wife of 11 years - Lisa McPartlin, 41 - following a stint in rehab, fought with officers as they tried to get him into a police vehicle. In January this year, he split with wife Lisa Armstrong.
