Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho backs Scotland call-up for 'humble' Scott McTominay

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has missed training ahead of the Champions League clash with Sevilla on Tuesday evening.

The 27-year-old made a staggering save to deny Sevilla's Luis Muriel from point-blank range, further enhancing his reputation as one of the best shot-stoppers in world football.

"It's kind of been sorted out (for a coaching role)".

While beating rivals Liverpool is satisfying, it only ensures United stay second.

After two impressive wins against Chelsea and now more recently Liverpool, José Mourinho is slowly turning the negative discourse surrounding his philosophy at Manchester United.

"If I finished the session one minute before it wouldn't have happened", the Portuguese manager added. "I don't know", the manager said.

"I think it's pretty much already been said, to be honest with you, there comes a time when, as much as you like or don't like it, your body tells you it's time to stop playing football", the former Swindon Town FC loanee started.

Mourinho-managed teams, too, are hard to beat when they are ahead - a fact highlighted by a prolific Liverpool side's struggles to break down United after the Portuguese set his side up defensively in the second period following Marcus Rashford's two-goal salvo in the first 24 minutes.

Manchester United have won 11 of the 15 UEFA competition ties in which they recorded a first-leg away draw, including the last two, most recently against RSC Anderlecht in last season's UEFA Europa League quarter-final (1-1 away, 2-1 home aet).

United's record signing Pogba has been criticised for his performances this season and Mourinho benched the 24-year-old for their goalless draw at Sevilla in the first leg last month.

"I'm totally fine now, took a bit of time to get over".

With all-too-predictable regularity, Manchester United have yet to face a really elite opponent in the tournament this time around and so the real test could be about to come in the quarterfinals should they make it. "Our big week started against Liverpool", he said. "We trained that of course", Klopp was quoted as saying by the Independent. "I'm really happy with Marcus".

De Boer was sacked by Palace after just five games in charge in September having failed to register a point or score a goal in his four Premier League games in charge.

"I think his humble nature is what is making him a good player for us".
