Serena Williams ready to serve up beauty brand 'Aneres'

Serena and Venus have faced each other 28 times in professional tournaments, the most recent being the aforementioned Australian Open final in 2017.

Still showing some rust from her long layoff, Serena hit just one ace and made 37 unforced errors to 32 for Bertens.

That this is Indian Wells, a tournament that holds plenty of history for the Williams sisters, makes it an even more loaded contest.

This is the first time the siblings will play each other at the BNP Paribas Open.

In 2004, Serena unveiled her own range of apparel under the label Aneres, her name spelled backwards, and it appears that she is now looking to expand the company with a range of cosmetics.

"I would prefer to play someone else, anybody else, literally anybody else, but it has to happen now and one of us will be going home", Serena said about the upcoming match.

Serena and Venus Williams have been battling it out on the WTA Tour for 20 years, and they meet yet again on Monday in the third round at Indian Wells.

The sisters' father was then accused of fixing matches between his daughters and predetermining who would win on any particular day.

Against Bertens, she got in just 54 percent of her first serves and won just 63 percent of her first-serve points, leading to four breaks for her opponent.

Serena also admitted that her first five months of motherhood has been "amazing", as she says that being a parent comes "naturally" to her.

"It's a huge difference to play her in the semi-finals or even the quarter-finals or a final as opposed to the third round". 'We can always stay in the tournament longer if the both of us are in the tournament.

The crowd's treatment led to a 14-year boycott by the sisters, which Serena finally ended in 2015.

It was Venus' seventh appearance in the California desert, and third since 2001, after an absence of 15 years.

"That's, you know, totally gone out of my mind". Venus enjoyed a resurgent 2017 season, but she began this year with losses to Angelique Kerber in Syndey and Belinda Bencic at the Australian Open. "Seventeen years seems like forever ago".

"I still have a lot to give".
