Eagles trade WR Torrey Smith to Panthers for CB Daryl Worley

Earlier this week ESPN reported that the Seattle Seahawks are trading defensive end Michael Bennett and a seventh-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for a fifth-round pick and wide receiver Marcus Johnson.

The Eagles pass defense ranked 17th in the National Football League last season and are facing the possibility of losing Patrick Robinson to free agency. Look for the former third-round pick out of West Virginia to start alongside Ronald Darby in Philadelphia, giving the Eagles a quality tandem.

Worley was in and out of the starting lineup the last half of the season for Carolina and did not quite play to the level of James Bradberry, who started opposite him.

As it relates to Worley, he's seen as an up-and-coming young cornerback in the league.

All of a sudden, Smith would provide Wentz and the offense with a speedy deep threat who was capable of breaking loose for a long touchdown at any given moment.

Numbers wise, Smith may not have put together the kind of regular season he was hoping for after catching just 36 passes for 430 yards with two touchdowns, but also keep in mind he did come up big in the postseason when it mattered the most. Last season, Devin Funchess led Carolina's receivers in receptions with 63, while Christian McCaffrey's 80 receptions led the team. Since then, Smith has never eclipsed 767 yards in a campaign.
