Google is betting big on its Android Oreo (Go edition), a new iteration of Android that has been customised for emerging markets such as India where majority of phones come with low storage, RAM power and grapple with patchy internet connectivity. Airtel has also partnered with Micromax under the same program so you can expect another smartphone from the company to show up sometime soon as well.

The Nokia 1 is set to go on sale this April and will be available for $85.

Under the hood, the latest ZTE Oreo Go edition phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset clocked at 1.1 Ghz and includes 1 GB of RAM with 8 GB inbuilt memory. It has 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage that can be increased via a microSD card.

Connectivity features of the phone include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and Global Positioning System.

The fact the software also consumes less data than we are accustomed to makes these devices a flawless fit for those who don't want to go through the trouble of managing their data usage and tracking which apps are burning a hole in their pockets.

Just to recall, Nokia 3 sports a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The 3X has a 13MP primary camera and 5MP 120-degree wide-angle lens with dual-tone flash. You can even make video calls through the front facing camera of the device. The OS also comes with Files Go app that helps in saving the storage and optimizing the memory usage.

The phone will be offered in two colour variants - Black and Gold. For selfies, it comes with a 2 Megapixel front camera. The smartphone is already on sale in the U.S. and is priced at $80.

Android Go handsets are made available for first look at Mobile World Congress.

Google has joined hands with Indian telecom major Airtel to offer low-priced smartphones powered by Android Go.

Airtel started the "Mera Pehla Smartphone" initiative in October past year, through which it has partnered with several handset makers to launch bundled 4G smartphones at budget-friendly prices.

Airtel said the smartphones that will be launched under its cashback schemes will be pre-loaded with apps such as MyAirtel, Airtel TV and Wynk Music.

Google had, in December a year ago, unveiled the Android Oreo Go edition for smartphones with 1GB RAM or less.

As per the tradition, all the Android Go smartphones cost less than 5k price tag. Micromax, however, has delayed the launch of the smartphone. Android Go has been specially created to be run on smartphones with low specifications. The smartphone features a 4.5-inch display with Gorilla Glass protection. And the whole thing runs on a quad-core MediaTek MT6737M.
