Nokia's iconic 'banana' phone making a comeback soon

Today, 22 years later, HMD Global, the maker of Nokia phones, has announced the return of the legendary slider phone with the bells and whistles of 4G connectivity, apps, including Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Search, Facebook and Twitter. It runs on the Smart feature OS powered by KaiOS. There's also 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but no support for microSD cards.

As for the camera, the front features 16 megapixels while the rear comes with a dual setup - a 12-megapixel and a 13-megapixel telephoto lens.

HMD here unveiled four smartphones, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, new Nokia 6 and Nokia 1, in the price range of Euro 85 to Euro 749.

The 8810 is set for release in May and is available for a retail price of €79 in two colorways, Traditional Black and Banana Yellow.

The Nokia 6, on the other hand, gets 3GB RAM in its 32GB version at launch, with a 64GB version launching later offering 4GB.

It's been announced that the Nokia 8110 - made famous by The Matrix - is making a comeback.

The New Nokia 6 is a slightly slicker, shinier version of its predecessor, the Nokia 5 and will hit the market in April for approximately $435 CAD. Up front, a 2.4-inch QVGA display with a resolution of 320×240 pixels makes the rounds, solidifying the 8110 4G's feature phone status. But the most important feature, however, is a revamped version of Snake. The review praised the device for its impressive battery life and an affordable price tag of $490 Dollars for something that offers a relatively premium design.

There's no headphone jack for this one, so ready your USB-C or Bluetooth earphones. The Nokia 1 belongs to the first wave of devices to come packed with Android Go, although it won't likely be the first commercially available phone with Android Go. HMD can decide to not launch any devices in the United States or conversely may even announce some carrier partnerships.

The Nokia 7 Plus is being heralded as the company's flagship this year. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 660 64-bit octa-core processor, while it comes with a 3,800mAh non-removable battery, fast charging included. Four of the five are smartphones while the fifth is a nice little surprise for those who know about old phones.
