This is the Samsung Galaxy S9 in all its glory

Of course, the larger Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will now feature a dual primary camera on the back, so there will be a small change in its design.

Samsung hasn't yet released its new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphone duo, so there's obviously no one outside of Samsung and its partners who has their hands on the phone at this point.

The S9 has been fitted with a 64-bit octa-core processor and sees 4GB or RAM.

"At the end of the day, if Samsung really wants to keep a user base properly, they need to give the tools for current users to trade in devices to make sure they feel like they aren't losing money", Francisco Jeronimo, research director for European mobile devices at IDC, told CNBC by phone ahead of the launch event.

Once you have taken the picture you can adjust skin tone and hair style, then pick from a range of glasses and outfits. Samsung has also upped the audio game with stereo speakers that provide surround sound with audio expected to be 1.4x times louder than Galaxy 8.

Numerous best features on the S8 are back. Bixby will be able to perform "Intelligent Scans" using the device's camera combined with Samsung's iris scan tech with facial recognition. Samsung have accidentally uploaded a launch video that reveals some of the S9's features a little early. Samsung's website says that, with a qualifying trade-in, customers can save up to $350 on the new Galaxy phones. However, there is no "Bokeh" style feature on the smaller Galaxy S9. The wide-angle 12MP sensor has F/1.5 and F/2.4 aperture while the telephoto lens is also 12MP with f/2.4 aperture.

With Samsung's digital assistant Bixby, S9 users can also access a range of augmented reality options on the camera, using also deep learning technologies from Samsung. Compared to standard 240 FPS, S9 records at 960 FPS for 4-times slower videos.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is a minor upgrade to the S8, with no new smartphone features that leap the iPhone or the S8 for that matter.

Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division, DJ Koh introduced the new phone.

Still on the camera, the S9 and S9+ also pride themselves as slow-mo pros.

And Samsung has bundled its own SmartThings app for controlling all of your smart home devices. This means users can expect an awesome camera again!

As to what is inside the Nokia 9, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm with 128 GB of internal storage plus a microSD card slot. This allows for a desktop-like experience from the Galaxy S9 by plugging it to the DeX pad and connecting it to a desktop monitor.
