Older Windows Phone Devices To Stop Receiving Notifications Forever

"On February 20, 2018, Mobile Push Notification services will be turned off for Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8.0", the company said in a post on its Community page.

"Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8.0 have reached their end of support dates, and thus services for these versions of Windows will be discontinued over time", writes the company on its community website, by way of justification for the move.

Once the support ends, a device running on these versions of the Windows operating systems would no longer receive notifications and additional live tile updates.

They will also lose the useful live tile updates that displayed information at a glance, and users will no longer be able to locate devices with the "find my phone" feature. Those still using Windows Phone 7.5 or Windows Phone 8.0 will likely want to switch to something newer. Find us on Facebook too!

"Once this happens: Your phone will no longer receive notifications".

As you know that Microsoft Corporation is working on its revolutionary foldable design device, surface phone aka Andromeda. Windows Phone 8.0 platform was the company's attempt to wrest a piece of the mobile pie away from rivals; iOS and Android. Just like ending support for versions of their PC operating systems (ie, Windows XP, Vista, etc), everything eventually reaches a point where it is pointless to support it any further. The new Surface Phone hints at features like a folding screen and a more familiar UI to help it properly blend in with the Surface family of devices.
